"Zhi-Ji" v/s "Yi"

From the time “Kani” is making news, 1 thing has been a sheer amusement for me. It’s the way people, including the Media pronouncing her name. I understand there is no English Equivalent to the last part of it (her name), but can’t we have a closer pronunciation? May be the issue lies with the way the name gets registered in English, which then gets type casted (pun-intended) everywhere else.

The funnier part is the reference by the Hindi Bulletins. The “Zhi” of English is translated into “Ji” in the National Language. I suppose even the Marathi and Gujarati ones must be using a similar reference.

Will “Yi” not bring it closer to the actual pronunciation? It’s not an accurate equivalent, but doesn't it sound, some degrees better than “Zhi” or “Ji” presently in use? Just wondering!

Hahhaaa! What led u write on it? The whole India is talking of Corruption and you are behind her name. If Kani reads this, she will be glad to know, there is some1 who wants her name to be pronounced right.
