And the Bus moves on....

Time 8.45pm : Mom is busy with the last moment packing and Dad is ensuring whether all doors of the balcony and windows are locked. And, both me and my lil sis are enthusiatic as ever, with our summer vacations just having begun. We are heading towards Mumbai for vacations.(from Aurangabad)

The watchman of the building arrives to carry our luggage to the ground floor.Ours is a 4storeyed bldg and we live on the 4th Floor of the bldg with a "NO LIFT" facility. But for the watchman, we would have to carry our luggage ourselves.Dad pays the watchman somewhere between Rs2/- to Rs5/- for his obligation...i aint sure how much he pays, but he makes a coin payment.

Time 9.00pm: We are at the bus stop waiting for the bus. This waiting period always brings with it some usual conversations..Mom giving us instructions about behaving well, not to fight, help grandma in the day today chores....these are certain usual unobeyed instructions, and we have no choice but to hear them.

Time 9.15pm: If the bus is on time it arrives by 9.15pm.Boarding the bus brings with itself the joy of vacations. It sets the vacation mood in us.A bit of hussle-bussle till we settle down and then the bus moves on....Initailly there are a lot of irritating stops but then the continuous journey sets in....

I m a journey lover and njoy long rides irrespective of the mode of transport..and this journey is all the more special to me...As the bus moves on..the cool breeeze pours in,the honking of the cargo trucks is soothing to the ears, the street lights on the highway make a wonderful sight and the sound of the movie played in the bus is worth the hear....if u all are wondering what is so pleasurable about these sounds..its the thrill of vacations, the excitement of meeting grandparents that makes them pleasurable. As the bus moves on...the joy of nearing Mumbai dawns in....

Lost in the thoughts, mentally making plans for vacations..i doze off to sleep..Even in the sleep one can hear the honking of the cargo trucks, feel the jerk of the bus..n once the bus stops..it disturbs the sleep.Again as the bus moves on...i am back in my dreams.

A sudden bout of humidity disturbs my sleep again...but this time its a wakeup call..the difference in the weather conditions speaks for itself..Aurangabad has a dry weather and thats why Mumbai's humidity strikes the body with a grace.....i realize

Once off the bus,we cant wait a second,we hire a taxi straight to Grandparents place..and HURRAH!!!!!
There begins our summer vacations...the 2 best months of the year...i simply wish they go on and on and on.......

Watch out for the sequel of this article "Paradise on Earth"

Only a true poet can find the honking of the cargo trucks soothing to the ears! Brilliant description of the A'bad-Mumbai bus journey, hearing sounds while asleep. Interesting that Mumbai's humidity (that everyone describes as sweaty, grimy weather) struck you "with grace". Is this the same girl who called Mumbai too crowded? Looks like someone has well adjusted to the city transition. Glad to know.
