The Other Day

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 21; the twenty first edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

My sister and i got our bicycles on the same day.She was around 4 and i was 9, when we got it.

I recall the day, we bought it home.It was evening time. My Dad had come to help us take our first bicycle ride. My Sister's one had balancing wheels, so he thought of making her comfortable first. All i had to do was, wait for a few extra minutes till he comes to me.

I had seen my other friends ride their bicycle. They would mount on it, and start peddling. The Cycle would mobilize itself with ease.
Or so it seemed.

My Dad was still busy assisting my Sis, when i took the seat. Felt all set to take on, the new adventure. It looked very easy. Somehow, there was no fear, no doubts, about hurting myself.

No second thoughts, as i placed my foot on the pedal. It was a matter of seconds, when i made my attempt to pedal, attempt to balance, all by myself, without any support system.

The inevitable happened.I lost my balance, fell , with the new cycle on me.
Thankfully unhurt, nevertheless Dad came for immediate rescue.

The other day, i was pondering if i would ever attempt something like this with my Driving. Its been more than 3 years since i learnt driving, own a licence. Took a few ferry rides along Palm Beach Road. But still far from exploiting the skill. Never really thought of making that head on adventure like the one i did during my cycling days. A fearless, doubt-free approach, with a "come what may attitude".

  1. Nice read, even I have some weird memories of my first cycle ride where I along with my bicycle went straight into my uncle's garden, destroying each and every little flowers he had. :D
