A Delayed Entry...
Entry Drafted: 07th April 2009, 11.15 – 11.45am.
A few operational changes and higher autonomy is what consumes most of my time. And no, this time, it isn’t an excuse for not blogging. When u have a God father watching over u, a few minor errors (if any) get auto-corrected. But once the eagle over your head vanishes off, leaving it entirely on you to show up, you realize, low accountability is inversely proportional to higher responsibilities. It’s been a month and more, and I find myself feeding more and more time towards this newly developed decentralization.
Glad and happy that all the new things came in after a much awaited break. A close friend’s wedding tagged with an exhaustible pile of leave inventory, is, an irresistible opportunity to miss. It’s been almost a month now, since my visit to Chennai. Though wont be able to give a point to point account of my journey, would like to reflect a few interesting observations that took me by surprise.
The wedding ceremony to start with. For once got to attend a highly NON-CHAOTIC wedding. Not that I have attended too many South Indian weddings, but to whatever few I made an entry, couldn’t get eyes “off” the chaos factor. Here, the proximity to which I watched the events unfold, must say, seeds of planning blossomed to near perfection levels.
Second comes the Chennai city as a whole. It’s high time I confess, I have seriously fallen in love with the city. My erstwhile picture of the city was something totally different, un-describable. I always associated Chennai as a high decibel city, sans sophistication. I was wrong, atleast on the generalization front. Brief shopping visits to RMKV brought out an entirely new side of Chennai (that I was totally unaware of). Commuting by motored 3 wheelers which is made out to be a challenging task for non-chennaites is fairly manageable. Highly admirable are the Chennai Locals, who rest for more than a couple of minutes at each station, quite unlike their Mumbai Counterparts.
Catching up with people after a considerable period of time, and in some cases almost the first time, was an exciting event in itself. School going kiddos familiarized me with a term called “SUPPERRR”, it’s the Chennai version of “MASSSTTT”. Also got myself acquainted with a local health drink called “PEDIA-SHOOR”, something close to Boost or Milo here. A visit to St Thomas Mount hill filled the site seeing section of my diary.
With a bag full of Sri Krishna Sweets and luggage laden with Cotton Dress Material, i bid adieu to Domestic Kamaraj Terminal on the 15th of March…
