Exactly a year ago.… 14th Jan 08:
Streets of Chennai were buzzing with Pongal preparations. With Schools and Offices remaining closed, the city was enjoying the extended Holiday Season….
Some 1450 Nautical Miles away, Tilguls were getting distributed…that was Mumbai celebrating its Harvest Festival … Gujarat’s Kite Festival was as usual making news!
But, at 302, Centre Point, Chembur, The World was different.
Someone had stepped into the Corporate World for the first time…
It was my first day at Work…Right at the centre at the table; was a book titled “Maritime Economics. Below it, lay a bulletin titled “Trading in Indian Waters”. The Annual Calendar carried a Vessel Picture on it, the 24 Hour Clock looked as if it could sail on land…
Water Water everywhere and it was time to plunge...
Time to plunge into the Industry dynamics, learn the Market Movements, Company operations…and lots more…
I intended on to plunge in, learn, sail up and keep floating….
However its been over a year, and I m still plunging, the more I plunge, the more there is to plunge, Each time I feel I closer to the Ocean floor, greater Ocean Depths are seen.
A quick glimpse at what changed over a year…
For a commerce graduate like me, Buoyancy Principle became the Epic Centre. Mass- Density Volume calculations suddenly turned very important.
Tides at the sea are said to be affected by the Moon. At any point of time, this piece of information would have meant General Knowledge.
Not anymore! It’s been over a year, since Tide tables are being tracked…
Mode and Medium of Communication changed. Phonetics became an essential part it. This is something I loved to learn and till date, implement…
Next time u ask me my Name and I shall go…Victor, India, Yankee, Oscar, Mike, Alpha….
Importance of Time scaled high on the charts of seriousness. Sundays and Holidays are exploited the best.
Presentations have always been taken seriously but now innovations in presentations have become a point to ponder…
The best thing that I enjoy is, my part of Accidental Learning…..When a mail from a client shows “Holiday on the eve of HK Liberation Day”…my curiosity screams to know what HK Liberation means. Similarly, when Central European Companies suffix their names with Gmbh, work in hand doesn’t proceed without decoding it.
Thanks to Google, taming curiosity is never an issue!
Talking of curiosity, now I m curious to check the length of this post and ponder on some editing….After all very few loyalists like u make it to the end of the post.. (Irrespective of its length)
